The next morning the posse crest a small rise and below them is the bandit camp.  The posse hunt around and find a hiding place to watch the camp.  The camp seems to have about 150 people in it.  There are women and children who look to be camp slaves.

The posse sleep in shifts and spend the day watching the camp.  The camp seems to be well run and organized.  Sneaking into the camp successfully would be difficult.  Evening falls and the posse decide that they should return to Denver for reinforcements.  Kansas suggests stealing some horses to make the trip easier and sew confusion among the camp.

Kansas discovers that the guards are alert and well trained.  He manages to sneak past them and find a spot where some of the horses are stabled.  Taking enough to get the posse back to Denver, he release the rest.  He spooks the horses and escapes in the ensuing chaos.

The posse ride to Denver.
