Wednesday, July 19th, 1876

Shima rises early and calls upon his spirits to heal his wounds.  The spirits are appeased and grant his request.  The rest of the posse awake, have breakfast and board the train to return to Denver.

At midday the train approaches the site of the ambush.  Kansas has the engineer stop the train.  The posse get off of the train and start looking for the horses from the previous day's attack.  The train starts off towards Denver.  The twenty five surviving horses look to have wandered off back towards the bandit camp.  The train is easy to follow and the posse start walking. 

Evening begins to fall.  There is no sign of the bandit camp.  There are strange prairie predators shadowing the posse.  The posse decide to walk through the night.
