Tuesday, July 11th, 1876

The posse spend the next day attempting to retrace their steps and return to Denver.  They cross back over the Continental Divide and settle down for the night in a small hanging valley.

JC tends to Reg's wounds.  Tara sets off looking for live game for dinner.  She locates a pheasant and brings it back for dinner.  She also locates some Poison Oak.  An itchy night follows for the posse. 

Tara dreams of her dead husband and asks him to help her find her way to Denver.  He points her in the the right directions.  Suddenly she is attacked by black shadowy creatures.  The chase her into a box canyon where Tara finds herself surrounded.  The beasts circle around her taunting with sudden lunges and feints.  Finally one of the beasts leaps for Tara and slashes at her throat with a black knife.
